Photographs of the Atlanta Tax Day Tea Party

Pics of the Atlanta tax day tea party

Let me start off by saying this was quite possible one of the best rally/protests I’ve seen in my lifetime. It was nothing short of amazing to see literally tens of thousands of people show up for “one” cause. I say “one” but to be honest I’m not entirely sure what the “one” cause was. It wasn’t an anti-Obama rally, or an anti-government protest, or a right-wing free for all. No, it was something much, much bigger than all of the petty name calling and nonsense. This was a true patriotic stand against a government that has gotten out of hand with its spending, taxation, and general big-brother ways. I’m a humanitarian when it comes to helping those in need – the disabled, the psycho-traumatized vets that have served us, the children in need of education – what I am against is the handing out of my money to those that are able to work, have every opportunity to do so and choose not to…

Engagement Photography

April Jasinski and Charles (Barrett) Bodiford were married on April 4th, 2009 on the outer banks island of Ocracoke. This beautiful island is riddled with historic remnants left from early colonial Americans and Spanish conquistadors alike. It’s also accessible only by ferry boat so it sounded like a wonderful place to end our session. Rather than partake in the tourist driven hoopla (which doesn’t exist in the off-season of Feb.), we went off the beaten path via 4-wheel drive to a secluded nest of marsh grasses where April and Barrett have spent countless moments playing in the muck, daydreaming about their future engaged life together.

When we arrived about 20 minutes early in Avon, NC to meet the couple we decided to explore the neigborhood a bit and came across a wonderful little broken down boathouse/seafood market on the water. For some reason, engagement photos with bright red paint chipping off a building and water both seem to talk to me. Immediately after arriving at April and Barrett’s house we went back to the boathouse for round 1 of the shoot.

After getting to know the couple “in front of the lens” we jumped into my SUV and headed for the ferry to Ocracoke – just over an hour to the south. I’ve always thought ferries were cool for some reason – maybe because of the romantic happenings in countless movies that take place on them. I simply just don’t know the real reason. Well, as fate would have it we missed the ferry by about 30 seconds so rather than waste an hour waiting we decided to hit the beach and ended up climbing all over the Frisco Pier.

By the time we finished the chilly 40min ferry ride I had watched the sun drop into it’s final hours and had so much fun that I had nearly exhausted all of my CF cards – if it weren’t for Svetlana enticing us from inside the warm(er) car I would’ve stayed out shooting April, Barrett, boats, and birds for the entire trip. When we drove off the ferry ramps we were left with only about 60min of sun-setting daylight, which turned out to work perfectly against the golden marsh grasses we played in until the last possible minute. At that “last possible minute” we decided to ride further out on the island and consequently spent sunset playing with shadows and silhouettes in the long narrow road that runs across the center of the long island. Actually, we parked right in the middle of the deserted road to get the shots.

I have to say – If we ever have another engagement shoot this fun, it won’t be soon enough. We’re more than looking forward to another trip to Ocracoke for the ceremony… April and Barrett, may God bless your marriage and the relieve the stresses of preparing for it…

An Untapped Photography Opportunity in Atlanta?

Comp cards are the industry standard “resume” for models and actors and right now is prime time to be marketing this service. Why you ask? With more and more people in Atlanta (and everywhere) drawing unemployment checks many people are looking at the current state of the economy as a great opportunity to rethink their career strategies and pursue dreams they may have given up on or just didn’t have time to pursue. This of course is accentuated by the influx of Hollywood movies being brought to Atlanta for the unique resources and cost savings of shooting here.

Professional Composite CardAs a professional photographer, and former entertainment industry “participant” I’ve seen and talked to hundreds, if not thousands of wanna-be actors, music artists and models as well as agents and people actually making in entertainment. What they all have in common is the need for progression in industries that have been pushed into commercial molds that just aren’t working anymore. We’ve recently teamed up to provide unique solutions to these issues and believe that in the long-run our marketing models will help to set new industry standards. E-press kits aren’t a new thing, but they haven’t been implemented as well as they could be.

As an up-and-coming model, actor, or entertainer you have been limited to this point by your ability to manage yourself without representation which leads to sloppy connections, poor relationship management, and the overall appearance to buyers of being too “green” to rely on for important jobs.

Imagine the possibilities if you could not only hand everyone you meet in the industry a great comp card, but also point them to an interactive website that would allow them to contact you, read your resume, see your work, and book you for jobs.

Now combine this with a passive (yet aggressive) advertising campaign that will show your face and name to quite literally millions of people. Big companies have always known about the power of suggestive selling and name recognition and we can show you how to use technology to increase your exposure for very very little money.

What if you couls also easily send out 4×6 mailers of yourself to every casting company, every talent agency, every management firm in the country for a few pennies more? Well, we can do it for you and show you what name recognition can do for you.

After all, do you really think Tila Tequila got famous because of her talent? No way – she did it by creatively marketing her face through the simple channel of Myspace. In a little over a year of constant and aggressive marketing she had a recognizable face and name – and every company wants to pay for someone that already has a recognizable reputation.

As an Atlanta Photographer, you should be cashing in on this wave of new-comers to fashion and entertainment. As a Model, actor or singer you should be aware of how easy it is when you work with the right people to be your own PR specialist and manager – that is, until someone makes you an offer that you can’t refuse.

So, take your career – or your client’s career – to the next level. You can contact us at info@atlphotographers.com or fill out the form below and we will gladly send you more detailed information, with no obligation. Good Luck!
